How to Become a Bahá'í

Everyone is welcome to become a Bahá'í. Bahá'ís are excited to share our beliefs with anyone regardless of their racial, religious or cultural background.

It is against Bahá'í law to prostelytize our religion, so you will not find Bahá'ís who pressure you to join our Faith. Instead, we think it is the choice of each individual, between themselves and God, to decide for themselves what they believe. However, if you wish to become a Bahá'í, we welcome you with open arms!

Becoming a Bahá'í is a simple matter of believing in your heart that Bahá'u'lláh is the latest prophet from God, and striving in your life to follow his laws and teachings. This act of belief is formalized by registering with the American Bahá'í community by signing what is called a "declaration card." This declaration allows you to officialy join your local Bahá'í community and vote in Bahá'í elections.

You may find a declaration card by requesting one from the Bahá'í National Office here. Just fill out the form, click "request further information' and in the special messages space at the bottom, mention that you want a declaration card.

You may also find your local Bahá'í community in your phone book, by looking under the name "Bahá'í."
